Catienus – Sire of Nan Cee Cee Flies

Catienus is one of the few stallions in North America to have sired Grade 1 winners on both dirt and turf. His six crops of racing age have earned $18‐million, and his $2.8‐ million figure in 2009 progeny earnings is second‐highest among all stallions currently standing in New York and among the top‐five in the entire Northeastern region.

The 20 stakes winners sired by Catienus to date include three‐time Grade 1 turf winner Precious Kitten ($1,912,543) and juvenile Grade 1 dirt winner Dawn of War plus multiple stakes‐winning and threetime Grade 1‐placed dirt sprinter Talent Search and multiple stakes‐winning and Group 1 turf runnerup Cannonball. Precious Kitten was a two‐turn turf specialist; Talent Search ($603,360) placed in the 2007 TVG Breeders’ Cup Sprint on dirt; New York‐bred Cannonball ($536,993) is entered in the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. Other stakes winners sired by Catienus include New York‐bred Self Made Man and Storm Rolling In, who both have won black‐type events on Polytrack. A first‐crop son, three‐time graded‐placed router Nolan’s Cat ($417,377), placed in the 2005 Belmont Stakes at a mile and a half.
